Google Calendar

I know I should utilize this for work, but I think it will be great as my kids get older. My husband and I are already overwhelmed with trying to remember where everyone is and how to get them to where they need to be. At least with the use of this tool, we have a better chance of staying on top of things and not having an excuse for forgetting an event.

Delicious!

I love, love, love the idea of this! Our tech person has wiped out my bookmarks without saving them on numerous occasions. I really like the idea of being able to access them from home and school alike.

Students can find this very helpful when researching a paper, organizing their school work, and even keeping their social life straight!

Wikis

The wonderful world of wikis is exciting and a bit scary. In my other job as an English teacher, I don't allow citations from Wikipedia. Even though there is a lot of solid information there, it's just too unpredictable.

I think a great way to use a wiki in a media center, would be to create an online book club. Students could pose questions, responses, links, artwork, and more. I don't think it would be too difficult to moderate either.

Thing 9

I found Google Docs to be more convenient than Zoho writer. If I am to be honest, I didn't spend as much time on Zoho writer because there seemed to a bit of a higher learning curve. I'm pretty indoctrinated into the whole Google family. Until now, I didn't realize I have a Google preference.

Picture Trail Fun

I had some fun with Picture Trail. I was surprised by how easy it was. I was going to use some other photos, but I didn't realize there was a size limit. I just grabbed some of some goofy students instead. I'm not sure why it posted twice!

Thing 7

Communication really is a huge part of my life - and not just as a speech coach. I appreciated the 5 email tips, especially the advice to "Do it now!" I'm always guilty of letting a message stew instead of giving it the instant easy response.

IMs and TMs were areas I've been aware of and used, but this year more than ever. In our composition class students used a live chat with a writing tutor to improve their rough drafts. On a field trip, a senior boy bragged he popped my IM cherry when he sent me a text for the bus to pick him up at the Pizza Hut.

I've also participated in a MINITEX webinar last year. It was a bit strange with the phone line and computer element, but I found it extremely helpful.

Online Image Generators

This was fun. As soon as I can get our techie to unblock Flickr, I can do more.
